Reporting To: Technical Manager
Purpose of the Role
To support the VeriFuel Technical Team in the daily delivery of fuel testing services and technical reporting. The successful candidate will receive structured training in marine fuels, fuel specifications, laboratory testing, and technical reporting, gradually developing the competence required to provide technical support to internal and external stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities
Fuel Analysis and Reporting
- Create and administer customer jobs within the VeriFuel database.
- Review and validate sample information and supporting documentation.
- Assist in determining appropriate laboratory test scopes based on fuel type, operational requirements, and customer requests.
- Review laboratory analysis results and perform data validation checks.
- Prepare technical reports under supervision, including:
- Fuel quality assessments
- Specification compliance evaluations
- Operational observations and recommendations
- Commercial and statutory considerations
Technical Support
- Provide first-line technical assistance to VeriFuel customers under guidance from senior technical staff.
- Support the VeriFuel Sales Team with technical information and customer enquiries.
- Assist in technical investigations, troubleshooting cases, and fuel-related operational concerns.
- Participate in the development of technical bulletins, guidance documents, and internal knowledge resources.
Quality and Data Management
- Ensure accurate and timely entry of information into databases.
- Maintain a high standard of data quality and report accuracy.
- Follow company procedures, quality management requirements, and reporting guidelines.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Technical Team.
Required Skills and Experience
Essential
- Degree or diploma in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Maritime Studies, or a related discipline.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and coordination abilities.
- Ability to work accurately, efficiently, and as part of a team.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- Good computer literacy and proficiency with standard business software applications.
Desirable
- Knowledge of marine fuels and fuel specifications.
- Understanding of marine engine operation and fuel treatment systems.
- Knowledge of laboratory testing or fuel analysis.
- Seagoing experience as a Junior or 3rd Engineer.
- Previous experience within the maritime, laboratory, or shipping industry.
