Chartering Officer

Spring Marine Management S.A., based in Athens, Greece, manages a fleet of tanker and dry bulk vessels and is seeking to recruit a Chartering Officer for its dry bulk fleet (Capesize and Mini Cape vessels).

Core Purpose of the Role

• Promote the Company and its activities to key market stakeholders.
• Monitor and analyze market developments, providing insight into trends and market direction within the dry bulk sector.
• Develop and implement short and long term employment strategies and cultivate strategic business relationships.
• Identify, negotiate, and conclude employment opportunities for the vessels under management.

Key Responsibilities

• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to maximize the operational and financial performance of the fleet.
• Monitor market developments and formulate employment strategies.
• Source and secure optimal business opportunities in the best interests of the Vessel Owners.
• Manage customer relationships on a global scale, with extensive international travel as required.
• Monitor industry trends and contribute to the continuous improvement of company procedures and processes.

Skills and Experience

Essential Requirements

• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent numerical skills
• In depth understanding of Charter Party terms and basic understanding of ship operations
• Commitment and excellent record keeping skills
• University degree in Maritime Studies, Law, Economics, Business Administration, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
• Minimum of four years' experience in Dry Cargo Chartering, preferably with exposure to the Panamax segment or bigger vessel classes.
