Site Engineer – Steel Yard Quality Control

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Site Engineer  to join the construction of the Riviera Tower in Ellinikon, in  Athens. This role requires strong technical knowledge, excellent coordination skills, and the ability to resolve construction-related issues in a dynamic, high-profile environment. 

Job Description

• Inspect incoming steel materials (rebars, beams, plates, sections) for compliance with specifications and standards.
• Verify Mill Test Certificates (MTCs) and ensure proper documentation and traceability.
• Conduct visual inspections to identify rust, cracks, bends, or other material defects.
• Supervise and monitor steel cutting, bending, welding, and fabrication activities.
• Ensure proper tagging, stacking, and protection of steel materials in the yard.
• Implement and oversee non-destructive testing (NDT) methods when required.
• Maintain up-to-date quality records and daily inspection reports.
• Ensure compliance with international standards (e.g. ASTM, BS, EN) and project specifications.
• Coordinate with QA/QC department, site engineers, and subcontractors for material handovers and inspections.
• Monitor yard operations to ensure safety and housekeeping standards are followed.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Civil, Mechanical Engineering or Structural Works Engineering
• 3–6 years of experience in steel yard operations or quality control in infrastructure or building projects.
• Strong knowledge of international steel standards (ASTM A615, BS 4449, EN 10025, etc.).
• Experience with inspection procedures, steel fabrication, and testing processes.
• Familiarity with NDT methods (Ultrasonic Testing, Magnetic Particle Inspection, etc.).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and AutoCAD (basic level).
• Knowledge of QA/QC documentation systems (e.g. Aconex, Procore) is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
