Maritime Risk Group is expanding! We are seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Project Manager with an engineering background (Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering) to join our vibrant, multidisciplinary research team. As a Project Manager, you will lead innovative projects, coordinate high-performing teams, and deliver impactful results in the maritime sector.
About Us
Maritime Risk Group (MRG) is an innovative academic research group operating for over a decade under the leadership of Professor Nikolaos P. Ventikos at the School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, National Technical University of Athens. MRG is involved in cutting-edge research across a broad range of domains: maritime safety and security, risk analysis, life cycle and sustainability assessment, port operations, environmental protection, green and autonomous shipping, alternative fuels, air emissions, cyber security, and more.
Our diverse and passionate team works to address complex maritime challenges by advancing knowledge, developing innovative and sustainable solutions, and engaging in international and national collaborations with research groups, industry stakeholders, and public authorities.
Job Title: Research Engineer - Project Manager
Your Role
As Project Manager at MRG, you will:
- Plan, manage, and oversee the successful delivery of complex research and technical projects.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary teams and ensure efficient collaboration across departments and stakeholders.
- Monitor project timelines, deliverables, budgets, and risks, ensuring compliance with funding requirements and institutional policies.
- Support technical content delivery by guiding and reviewing research activities aligned with project goals.
- Communicate effectively with funding agencies, industry partners, and academic collaborators.
- Organize and lead project meetings, reporting activities, and proposal preparation.
- Identify new funding opportunities and contribute to the development of competitive research and innovation proposals (EU and national).
- Assist in the dissemination of project results through reports, presentations, and events.
- Contribute to MRG’s strategic growth by supporting proposal development, networking, and knowledge transfer.
Required Qualifications
- Engineering degree (Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering).
- Registration with the Technical Chamber of Greece (or equivalent national engineering body).
- Demonstrated experience in managing or coordinating EU-funded or national research projects (e.g., Horizon Europe, Interreg, CEF).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
- Team leadership and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office and project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Gantt charts).
- Availability for international travel and engagement with multi-partner consortia.
- A proactive mindset with high attention to detail and quality.
