Ariston is a ship-management company specializing in the technical management and operation of a modern fleet of bulk carriers, cement carriers, and other general cargo vessels.

Our shore based ship management team is highly qualified and experienced in handling the day to day challenges of trading worldwide. The seamen employed by Ariston are highly qualified and continuously trained to meet national and international requirements.

Ηistory

Ariston is owned by the Xylas family, a well respected, 4th generation traditional Greek shipping family with its shipping origins founded in the early 1900s. Over the years the group has managed over 100 vessels and has supervised the construction and delivery of over 80 newbuildings. The types of vessels have always been in the dry sector, primarily handy size bulk carriers. The Group has built vessels in European and Asian shipyards as follows:  in Southshields, England (50s), Mitsui, Osaka Zosen and IHI in Japan (60s, 70s and 80s), Turkey (90s), Dalian Shipyard China (00/01) and more recently in Turkey (2005-07) and China at CSC Jinling, Sinopacific Dayang, Tsuneishi Zhoshan (2008-16).

Ariston, being the management arm of the Group, provides ship-management services to the fleet. In addition, Ariston has developed and handled various newbuilding projects for its clients, with involvement from the concept-design stage, to the plan approval and building supervision. Such examples are the Mykonos Project (feeder containers), the Explorer Project (feeder heavy-lift containers of 12,000 dwt), the Melissa Project (Pneumatic Cement carriers), and the SeaStallion Project (a series of 36,000 dwt Eco-type Bulk carriers). The latter was developed in late 2011 in close cooperation with Grontmij and Schmidt Maritime of Denmark, the designers of the SeaHorse 35 and is an improved version of the successful eco-design vessel. A series of eight SeaStallion vessels is currently under construction for the Group’s principals, an investment exceeding US$ 190 million. Furthermore, Ariston has recently added two eco-type Kamsarmax of the Tsuneishi design to the fleet – bringing the total to 11 ships due for delivery during 2014 – and is currently evaluating other markets and vessel types with an emphasis on new technology and energy efficient designs.
