We are currently seeking an Audit professional at Manager rank with experience in the insurance sector to join the team and help our clients meet their reporting requirements by accurately reporting on financial statements and providing meaningful insights into accounting and reporting matters. Our assurance practice provides also non-audit services to non-audit clients, such as implementation of new accounting standards (IFRS 9, 15, 16, 17), as well as other related assurance services. Therefore you will also have the opportunity to engage in accounting advisory or other type of assurance engagements.
Your key responsibilities
Everything you will do will come back to providing exceptional audit services for our clients. Colleagues and clients from a diverse array of backgrounds will look to you for answers, so you will be a high-profile contact when it comes to resolving complex issues influencing clients and engagement teams on resolutions that will impact entire industries.
Skills and attributes for success
- Collaborating with Audit Partners to plan engagement strategy/objectives, undertaking risk assessments and leading the engagements to deliver agreed plan.
- Developing and maintaining productive and long term relationships with client management.
- Generating new business opportunities, understanding EY services and actively assessing/presenting ways to apply knowledge.
- Understanding Insurance industry and recognizing key performance drivers, business trends, emerging technical developments and impact to the clients; being visible in the marketplace and recognized as a quality service advisor.
- Leading by example, developing and mentoring engagement team members and conducting performance reviews.
- Using expertise in audit methodologies to perform engagements in compliance with the firm and industry standards.
- Using technology to continually learn, share knowledge and enhance service delivery.
To qualify for the role you must have
- 5-8 years of professional experience as an auditor in an accounting firm
- Practical experience with the audit of insurance companies and knowledge of IFRS 4
- JES/ACCA/ACA qualification (or equivalent)
- Excellent academic background including a bachelor/master degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business or other related field
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills and a collaborative approach to management
- Excellent written and verbal communication in Greek and English
- Flexibility to travel in accordance with client and other job requirements both locally and internationally
Ideally you will also have
- Prior working experience in a Big 4 firm
- Practical or theoretical knowledge of IFRS 17
- IFRS expertise in technical research
- Knowledge of the banking sector through audit or advisory work and the relevant standards (IAS 39, IFRS 9)
